Who Should Apply?

Any business wanting to provide their Muslim clients with the assurance that the food they purchase is halal and acceptable according to Islamic rules for consumption and use should have their business certified.

Halal certification adds value to a product as it assists Muslims with making a decision on what products to buy. Modern food processing and globalised markets make it hard for Muslims to know how their food was produced and where it has come from. To get around this uncertainty, consumers who want to buy halal food need a system that checks whether products meet the requirements of being halal.

In this sense, halal certification is similar to any type of food certification and audit system. Whether it be halal, kosher, gluten-free or organic, food certification services help consumers to make informed decisions about the food they eat.

So having your product certified by a trusted and reputable certifier provides the Muslim consumer with peace of mind and contentment that whatever they consume has been approved as halal. With the global halal food trade market estimated at Billions of rands annually, Muslim markets provide a lucrative opportunity for companies wanting to trade locally as well as internationally.
